The suspect, identified as Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, is accused of firing a semiautomatic rifle at the couple’s mansion in Los Angeles at approximately 13:15 local time (21:15 GMT) on Sunday 8 March 2026. No one was injured in the incident.
Ortiz has been charged with nine counts of attempted murder and is currently being held on bail set at 1.8 million US dollars (around £1.4 million). If convicted, she could face a life sentence. She also faces 10 felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, as well as three felony counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper.

According to CBS, officers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) uncovered a number of social media accounts believed to belong to Ortiz which allegedly contained references to Rihanna. These posts are now being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
In the wake of the incident, it is understood that Rihanna, ASAP Rocky and their children have travelled to Barbados, where Rihanna was born, as a precaution.
Ortiz is due to appear in court for her arraignment on 25 March, where she is expected to enter a plea.
The case has attracted widespread attention given the high-profile nature of those involved, though authorities have stressed that the investigation remains ongoing.
This is not the first alarming incident connected to the home of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky.
According to media personality Jason Lee of Hollywood Unlocked, a separate break-in reportedly occurred at the property prior to the shooting.
It is alleged that a man unlawfully entered the Los Angeles mansion specifically looking for Rihanna. At the time, however, the property had reportedly been rented out to fellow rapper Cardi B, who was staying there while recording music in Los Angeles.
Reports claim that Cardi B, who was pregnant at the time, had been asleep when the intruder entered the home. She was allegedly alerted to the disturbance and reached for a firearm in self-defence. The intruder is said to have realised she was not Rihanna, though details about how the situation ended remain unclear.

While these claims have not been officially confirmed by law enforcement, the reported incident has only heightened concerns around the safety of the property and those connected to it.
The timing and nature of both events have led to growing speculation online, with some questioning whether Rihanna is being deliberately targeted. Authorities, however, have not indicated any confirmed link between the incidents.
